During WWII in the US, cinema was used as a propaganda vehicle. Many great filmmakers were involved, including master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock. After making several films advocating for the American entry into the war, Hitchcock launched a new propaganda project: Lifeboat. He asked John Steinbeck to write the story.
