Limited vinyl LP pressing including digital download. Here and There, released in 1976, is a live album by British singer-songwriter Elton John; it is his 14th official album release. The title refers to the two concerts represented on the album: Here is a concert recorded at the Royal Festival Hall in London during the summer of 1974; There is a concert recorded at New York City's Madison Square Garden on 28 November 1974. The album was at the time issued in part to fulfill a final contractual obligation John owed to DJM Records, prior to having his records released by his own Rocket Record Company label, starting with Blue Moves in 1976. Music journalist Paul Gambaccini wrote the liner notes to the original LP.

Double 180gm vinyl LP pressing. Live in Australia with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, released in 1987, is the twenty-sixth official album release for Elton John. It is a live album recorded at the Sydney Entertainment Centre on 14 December 1986 with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. The concert was the last of a series of concerts done throughout the last two months of 1986, which were part of John's Tour de Force (tour) of Australia and New Zealand. John's band was essentially the lineup used on Leather Jackets, which he was touring behind at the time, including Jody Linscott and special guest Ray Cooper, both of whom played percussion. This concert was the last to feature Elton's legendary stage costumes, which he had featured in his shows since the early 1970s. It was also his last show before undergoing throat surgery in January 1987. Despite being completely successful, the surgery prevented Elton from singing at all for several months and from touring for 18 months. The surgery also permanently reduced his range from tenor to baritone.

The title is "one night only" because the recording equipment failed to tape most of the audio from the first night, leaving only the second night to be recorded as an album. In the US, it was certified gold in July 2001 by the RIAA. Elton John has received five Grammy Awards, five Brit Awards - winning two awards for Outstanding Contribution to Music and the first Brits Icon in 2013 for his "lasting impact on British culture", an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, a Tony Award, a Disney Legends award, and the Kennedy Center Honors in 2004.

Vinyl LP pressing. Sleeping with the Past is the 22nd studio album by singer-songwriter Elton John, released on 29 August 1989. It is his best-selling album in Denmark (where it was recorded) and is dedicated to his longtime writing partner Bernie Taupin. The album features his first solo number-one single, "Sacrifice", in his home country of the UK, which helped the album also hit number one there, his first since 1974's Elton John's Greatest Hits. John and Taupin meant for the songs to reflect the style of 1960s R&B icons such as Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding and Sam Cooke, whom they admired. It also became his first platinum album in the UK since 1983. In the US it was certified gold in October 1989 and platinum in April 1990 by the RIAA.

The project is also marked by the string arrangements by James Newton Howard. John has stated that Blue Moves is one of his favorites of the albums he has recorded. It was Gus Dudgeon's last album produced with John for almost a decade. In the U.S., it was certified gold in October and platinum in December 1976 by the RIAA.

Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing. Empty Sky is the debut studio album by British singer-songwriter Elton John, released on 6 June 1969. Recorded during the winter of 1968 and spring of 1969 in a DJM 8-track studio, Empty Sky is the only album in the early part of his career not produced by Gus Dudgeon, instead helmed by friend and DJM staffer Steve Brown. John plays harpsichord on several tracks, including "Skyline Pigeon", which John has described as being "the first song Bernie and I ever got excited about that we ever wrote." "Skyline Pigeon" is the most popular and best known song on the album, and is the only one which John, albeit infrequently, performs as part of his live shows. Although John has since called the album naive, he does have fond memories of making the record. These include walking home from recording at 4 a.m. and lodging at the Salvation Army HQ in Oxford Street, which was run by Steve Brown's father.

Limited 180gm heavyweight vinyl LP pressing with original cover art by Julian Schnabel. Originally released in 1997, The Big Picture finds Elton and Bernie Taupin turning a solid mix of pop hits and ballads. The album is the 26th studio album by British rock icon Elton John. It includes four worldwide singles: "Live Like Horses", "Something About the Way You Look Tonight" (released as a double A-side with "Candle in the Wind 1997"), "Recover Your Soul" and "If the River Can Bend". The album has a strong orchestral emphasis with string arrangements written by Anne Dudley and John's then backup keyboardist Guy Babylon. The album was dedicated to John's friend, popular fashion designer Gianni Versace, who was murdered a few months before the album's release. This was the last album to date to be produced by Chris Thomas, who had worked with John almost nonstop since 1981's The Fox.

Limited 180gm heavyweight vinyl LP pressing released to coincide with Elton's 50th year in his musical career. Rock of the Westies, released in October 1975, was the tenth official album release for Elton John. As with Elton's previous release, Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy, Rock of the Westies debuted on the US Billboard 200 chart at # 1, the only two albums at that time to have done so. It contains the #1 single "Island Girl." The make-up of John's band was different on Rock of the Westies, being without his long-time drummer Nigel Olsson and bassist Dee Murray, both of whom John fired during April 1975. Added in their place were drummer Roger Pope, an old friend of John's who had played on Empty Sky, Tumbleweed Connection and Madman Across the Water, and American bassist Kenny Passarelli, who had previously played with Stephen Stills and was an original member in Joe Walsh's band Barnstorm. Pope had also played in Kiki Dee's touring band. Grammy, Emmy, and Academy Award nominated James Newton-Howard, at the time a virtual unknown, was also brought in as keyboardist, giving him his first major publicity. Also included was Caleb Quaye, another old friend of John's from his early DJM session days. Like Pope, Quaye had also played on Empty Sky and Tumbleweed Connection and also John's intervening eponymous release. Retained from the previous line-up were Davey Johnstone and Ray Cooper.

Designed as a pastiche of classic and contemporary pop styles, the album demonstrates the diversity of the Elton John/Bernie Taupin team. Don't Shoot Me I'm Only the Piano Player was his second straight #1 album in the US, yielding his first No. 1 single in both the US and Canada: "Crocodile Rock". "Daniel" was also a major hit from the album, giving him his second Canadian #1 single on the RPM Top Singles Chart and just missing the top slot south of the border, stalling at #2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and reaching #4 in the UK, one place higher than achieved by "Crocodile Rock".

Elton John is at the top of his form, crafting immaculate pop songs with memorable melodies and powerful hooks. Breakout hits include "Honky Cat" and "Rocket Man." Honky Château was titled after the 18th century French chateau where it was recorded, Château d'Hérouville. The album reached number one in the US, the first of seven consecutive US number one albums for Elton John. A third single, "Hercules," was prepared for release, but never materialised. This album marks the beginning of John's transition from a singer/songwriter to a more rock 'n' roll style. It was also the first album to feature John's road band of Dee Murray on bass and Nigel Olsson on drums (along with new member Davey Johnstone on electric and acoustic guitars and other fretted instruments) as the core group of musicians.

A loose concept album about the American West, Tumbleweed Connection emphasized the pretensions that always lay beneath their songcraft. The album was recorded at Trident Studios, London, England in March 1970 and released in October of the same year. It peaked at #2 on the UK Albums Chart and #5 on the US Billboard 200 chart. Dee Murray and Nigel Olsson appear for the first time together on this album as the rhythm section on "Amoreena". Olsson had played on one track on Empty Sky for John in 1969. Vinyl LP reissue of this 1979 EP including the hit "Are You Ready for Love." The Thom Bell Sessions (internationally titled as The Thom Bell Sessions '77) is an EP recorded by Elton John in the second half of 1977, but was not released by MCA Records until June 1979. The project was a departure for John at the time. Up until that time, he had worked almost exclusively with lyricist Bernie Taupin and record producer Gus Dudgeon. Also, John's band was not used at these sessions. This project brought Elton John together with R&B songwriter and producer Thom Bell, who had previously worked with such artists as The Stylistics, The Delfonics and The Spinners. Apparently, relations between the producer and the artist became difficult rather quickly. Although John was eager to work with one of the creators of the Philadelphia soul sound, recording sessions did not go smoothly and they ended before an entire album could be finished.

Produced by T Bone Burnett, the album features 12 new songs written by Elton and his longtime lyricist Bernie Taupin, as well as three piano interludes composed by the artist. The Diving Board returns Elton John to the piano, bass and drums lineup that marked the artist's introduction to worldwide audiences more than 40 years ago. As Elton explains, 'In many ways, I feel like I'm starting again, making records. Several years ago when beginning to work with T Bone and being in the studio with Leon Russell for the Union, I had to ask myself, What kind of music do I really want to make?, and I realized that I had to go back to go forward again. I needed to strip away the excesses and get back to the core of what I do as an artist. That's what the Diving Board represents. The Diving Board is the album I've been waiting to make for decades.' According to producer T Bone Burnett, the Diving Board is an album of music by a master at the peak of his artistic powers.

"The greatest thing about Rock and Roll is that someone like me can be a star". Elton John

He was 23 before he became a star. Shy, chubby and bespectacled, he was already losing his hair. Hardly a rock icon. In the course of a year he had adopted an outrageous stage persona and became a rock sensation. With over 200 million albums sold, including seven consecutive chart toppers, Sir Elton John is one of the most successful recording artists of all time.

The journey from star to legend wasn't an easy one. Depression, bulimia, drug and alcohol addiction, failed relationships and explosive temper tantrums have often threatened to overwhelm him but somehow he has endured.

So who is the real Elton John? How did he go from the 14-year-old playing Jim Reeves songs in a Pinner pub to perhaps the performance of his life at the funeral of close friend Diana, Princess of Wales?

This authoritative new documentary follows Elton's rocky road from troubled child and classical music student through to unpredictable drama queen and international treasure.

Fans, critics and friends recall the songs, the scandals, the crises and the excesses that make up Elton John.
